GTA 6’s Opening Mission Might Unleash Chaos – Gamers Are All On Board
October 30 , 2025
Both Red Dead Redemption 2 and Grand Theft Auto V kick off in snowy settings, with protagonists battling through various forms of survival as the weather deteriorates.
This appears to be a signature trope of Rockstar Games — and one fan on Reddit’s r/GTA6 thinks Grand Theft Auto VI’s opening mission could follow a similar pattern.
With just months left until the launch of what’s arguably the most highly anticipated video game of all time, excitement among fans is soaring. In the meantime, they’ve been dissecting every detail Rockstar has shared so far with meticulous care.

As of now, Rockstar has released two official trailers for Grand Theft Auto VI plus a dedicated website. Thanks to these clues, one fan believes they’ve figured out exactly how the game will start.
“We can be nearly certain GTA 6 will open with a storm,” user Comprehensive_Cap611 posted.
Alongside a screenshot of main character Jason standing on a roof, seemingly fixing a leak, this innocent-looking moment might hint at something far bigger.
“Practically every Rockstar game launches with harsh weather to create a chaotic, gripping setup before dropping you into the massive open world,” the post went on.
“Snow is usually the go-to, but since GTA 6 is set in Miami, a hurricane is way more plausible.
We also see Jason repairing his house in the second trailer — I think this could tie into a post-storm scenario.”
It might not be an action-packed opening, but it lines up perfectly with the footage we’ve seen so far — especially since Rockstar confirmed the second trailer includes snippets of actual gameplay.

GTA 6 could lean into epic stakes
As the original poster also noted, this opening moment might introduce secondary character Brian. He’ll likely assign Jason menial tasks early on, leading up to the big, high-stakes missions that define the Grand Theft Auto franchise.
Whether GTA VI will actually start with a storm is still unconfirmed, but other fans were quick to weigh in with their thoughts.
“I don’t buy that ‘every’ Rockstar game opens with harsh weather, but a hurricane as a major plot point would be awesome,” one user commented.
“They could totally use a post-hurricane environment to throw obstacles at the characters — forcing them to fight their way out of shootouts while navigating debris and chaos.”
Another fan echoed this idea: “I hope there’s a huge buildup to an incoming storm, then a heist during the peak of the hurricane’s landfall. That would be legendary.”
We’ll have to wait and see what GTA VI’s opening moments hold, but if Rockstar’s track record is any indication, it’s sure to be nothing short of extraordinary.
